Leaving On A Jet Plane

Friday was fast pace with packing, a baby doctor appointment and a drive to spend the weekend in Iowa to visit my husband's family. 6 months pregnant, eating all day long, sledding and playing with the cutest little 2 year old made for a relaxing and fun weekend.

Now, this is what my Monday is looking like:

I'm leaving early in the morning for the rest of the week and I must say I am having a hard time leaving my man. The closer we get to having Baby Girl join us the more patience we lose in waiting for her and wanting to be our cute little 3 person family.

I am excited to see my amazing family and friends and will do my best to check in throughout the week, but will be mostly MIA enjoying this nice vacation.

Enjoy the week and the beautiful weather that has come our way. What a crazy winter, right?

Outfit to Interior- Yellow, Black and White

I pinned this outfit just recently and would purchase my own version if I were still single and not expecting a baby in 3 months. Practical clothing and accessories are on the horizon and will stay there for many years to come. I love the color combo of white, yellow and black, but my favorite parts of this look is the gray t-shirt with the black Birkin bag. Can we say classy here? I love it!

I immediately thought of Jenna Lyon's home tour and her living room in the same colors and that bit of classy bling with the chandelier and the textures of the chairs and fur throws. A perfect match.

Chicago Designer Summer Thornton

Summer Thornton is an interior designer here in Chicago. Her office was recently featured in Matchbook magazine and it is stunning. I can always get on board with white furnitire pieces that have a little bit of character and check out that floral wallpaper. It might be a bit claustrophobic in a small space, but what a great way to make a large office space seem much more personal and less sterile.

Here also are a few photos of some of Summer's designs that you might have seen floating around the internet.

I love discovering little gems that live here in Chicago.

C Wonder- New York

It has been a while since I've been back to New York and I miss it terribly. I have a list that keeps getting longer and longer of all the things I want to do and see the next time I am there (hopefully this summer) and one of those things is visitng the C Wonder store. I love their products that you can purchase online, but their shop is one to see in person.

Neon colors are in this spring/summer, but this C Wonder green won't go out of style any time soon. To pair such a bold and bright color with a subdued baby blue keeps the look high class and anything, but a baby boy room color.

Check out those statement doors. Gold framing.

Great version of a chevron rug and fun display for accessories.

Who has been lucky enough to see C Wonder in person?

Zara Home

I have always been in love with Zara Home. I ask you, WHY DO THEY NOT SELL IN THE UNITED STATES?! The prices are great and the decor is perfect. I love the textures, colors and unique, but oh so home-y, look to their products. If anyone lives in the UK and wants to purchase any of my favorite items for me and then send them to lovely Chicago, I would kiss you ten times a million.

Let's start off our Monday with some of my favorite picks that I want for my bedroom right now.

Heading to the dark side

Yesterday's post I went on and on about my favorite look for bedrooms, light and airy. Last night that sweet husband of mine was looking over the post and said, "hey, these bedrooms look a lot like ours." Yes all, I definitely wasn't lying when I said I love the natural light and white look of bedrooms. So relaxing and calm.

HOWEVER, look at this bedroom I found on AB Chao which I would also call light and airy. It fits the description perfectly except. . . it has dark dark walls! I am in love.

Do you think you could live with dark bedroom walls?

Light and Airy

I do have a favorite type of bedroom and I often describe it as 'light and airy' which, to me, means white linens, simple design an large windows with natural light. I've also realized that I should move to Europe, but specifically Sweden, if I want this look done right. I believe a bedroom should be for comfort and relaxation and there is always a personal touch or a pop of color.

I showed you my nightstands, here, that I recently painted white. I am really happy with them, but my room is a little too stark and needs that personal touch I mentioned. I'm thinking some meaningful art, texture and little bit more color to make the room feel alive.

I am in love with all of these bedrooms, which I have on my Pinterest.

INSANE headboard!

Mondays Never Looked So Good

I made some homemade valentine decorations this weekend to brighten up the apartment. I need to find a permanent color solution to this area of the apartment because this bright addition makes me so happy!

Woke up to little love notes from the Hubbie this morning as I reached for the oatmeal, milk, kindle, etc. I love how he treats me on the ordinary days making them extraordinary.

I spotted these two bedrooms on Sue's blog, The Zhush, last week and I fell in love. I am the biggest fan of crisp white bedrooms with large windows and a ton of light.

The pink tulips I bought this weekend to brighten up our dining table and couldn't help adding a few to my nightstand. I also finished repainting the nightstands in our bedroom! What do you think?

I hope your weekend was fun and your Monday is just as wonderful!

It's Finished!

This poor guy made quite the trip with us from St. Louis to Chicago and patiently waited to be cleaned up and painted, but I am happy to announce that it is finally done!

I am in love with the color and am so grateful to have a place to store our growing pile of baby clothes

The original hardware is my favorite

What do you think? I'll be posting the actually process a little later with some lessons learned.

Black & White Love

Designing on a budget requires you to work with what you've got when it comes to the big things. Most of our furniture throughout our apartment is either black or white in a little too clean and simple manner (dang you ikea). So I've been scouring the internet to figure out how to take my simple furniture to a bit more glam of a look. I have in no way figured it out, but check out these stunning black and white interiors that are giving me some inspiration.

Add bright pop of color. I favor coral or pink. . .  always.

Make it look like it is all on purpose with black and white accesories

Keep it simple by limiting the clutter

Go big and bold like these wall stripes

Class it up by adding some ornamentation to your pieces

Create a  focal point

Make white the more prominent color by limiting the black only where required (floor) and in accents (those fabulous curtains and lamp shades)

Or be talented enough to do your own thing and hope it turns out like this gorgeous office, designed by Nichole Loiacono, featured in Adore Magazine

Here is a simpler "winging it" version I might be able to follow
